Interns and Associates

Interns, Trainees, and Associates at The Gold Standard Mental Health Institute

At The Gold Standard Mental Health Institute, we are committed to fostering the professional growth and development of our interns, trainees, and associates.

We recognize the importance of providing an environment where emerging mental health professionals can thrive, feel supported, and be given the tools to succeed in their careers. Our philosophy of teaching, training, and supervision is rooted in collaboration, customization, and real-world experience.

Customize Your Training Experience

At The Gold Standard Mental Health Institute, we understand that one size does not fit all when it comes to professional development. That’s why we encourage our interns and trainees to explore various psychotherapy modalities and tailor their experience based on their interests and career goals. Whether you’re drawn to cognitive restructuring, depth psychology, attachment theory, or family systems work, we support your exploration and growth within the context of the Gold Standard Method.

Our training program is built to allow flexibility and space for interns to align their learning with their theoretical preferences. You will have opportunities to explore a range of interventions, learn from a team of skilled professionals, and receive supervision that guides you in integrating these techniques into your practice in a meaningful way.

Supervision and Mentorship

Supervision at The Gold Standard is a cornerstone of our training program. Our team of licensed professionals, including Juliana Rodriguez, LMFT NM, LPCC CA, brings a wealth of experience in various therapeutic approaches, ensuring that interns receive expert guidance. Supervision is individualized to fit your needs and is designed to help you refine your clinical skills, deepen your understanding of therapy models, and challenge any areas of growth.

We value a supervisory relationship that emphasizes trust, mutual respect, and open communication. Our goal is to help you feel empowered in your practice, giving you the tools to work with diverse populations and complex cases while cultivating your unique therapeutic style.

An internship at TGSMHI opens the door to generously remunerated work opportunities as an Associate at our Institute. After you obtain your independent license, you will have many exciting opportunities to work with us and further your career–whatever path you choose. Contact us for details.

Real-World Experience and Support

Interns, trainees, and associates at The Gold Standard Mental Health Institute gain hands-on experience working with underserved populations in New Mexico, providing psychotherapy and integrated services, with effective coordination of care with our community’s resources. Interns will have the opportunity to work either remotely, for maximum flexibility, or on-site at various clinics with different client populations. Interns will be paid a stipend for their clinical work.

Through direct client work, you will apply what you’ve learned in a supportive, guided setting. In addition, our team provides ongoing consultation, case reviews, and opportunities for professional development, ensuring that you feel confident and prepared to meet the needs of your clients.

Associates will be trained in a private practice model, enjoying total flexibility in scheduling, client load, where to work from etc. Associates’ remuneration will be generous to start with, and will be adjusted up every six months according to demonstrated growth and performance.
